From handmade piñatas to Afro-Cuban dance steps, she's guided by the lessons of her parents and ancestors. Her life's purpose is to create a better quality of life - not just for her family, but for every person whose story echoes her own.

Desde piñatas hechas a mano hasta pasos de baile afrocubanos, se guía por las lecciones de sus padres y antepasados. El propósito de su vida es crear una mejor calidad de vida, no solo para su familia, sino para cada persona cuya historia se hace eco de la suya.

Zuheil Alvarez Cortes is a dedicated community organizer In Roanoke, Va. Rooted in her identity as an immigrant and cultural steward, she brings deep compassion and lived experience to her advocacy for underserved families, specially those with special needs. Zuheil combines traditional Mexican cultural practices with a growing knowledge of Afro-Cuban traditions to create inclusive, healing spaces. Her work supports Inter generational connection, community empowerment and cultural Preservation.
